My Pacifica has been a great vehicle so far. It has developed a clunk similar to a bad u-joint on a rear wheel drive vehicle. The clunk can be produced on demand by driving at 35mph and lightly increasing and decreasing the accelerator. I tried wiggling the half-shafts. They appeared tightl.
Any ideas?
Poer transfer unit.
Had exactly the same symptoms @ 40Kmiles and just had it repaired. apparently it's a common defect- but covered under the power train warranty. Car is handling well now.

Thanks! I'll call up the dealer and ask them about the power transfer unit. The dealer I'm using has been good so far.

The power transfer unit is for AWD vehicle only. Mine is FWD.
The problem ended up being loose Axle Spline Bolts. The car drives as good as it ever has after the dealership tightened the bolts.
I was also very pleased to have inexpensive maintenance done on a Chrysler vehicle. I have never had good luck getting maintenance done by USA and Japanese brand dealerships. Maybe Daimler is really going to fix that problem with Chrysler dealerships. I also own a couple of Mercedes. The Mercedes dealer does excellent work regardless of the cars age.
I do live in Charlotte, NC where there are several Chrysler dealers and a couple million people. Maybe the competition keeps them honest.

this sounds alot like the issue i had - same thing - tightening the bolts seemed to do the trick.
