I have read alot about the 2.7 engine and its problems. they seem to be limited to the 97 through 02 engines. Is there any alternative to simply replacing this engine and has chrysler fixed the issue in newere engines. can i use the 3.2 or 3.5 instead? or is a late model 2.7 safe. i have to fix mine and I am trying to decide. I have acess to good used engines and parts.

I just finished a swap. I put a 2004 engine into a 2001 Sebring Conv. It runs great. There are alot of thing that need to be swaped out for it to work. The 01 has the sbec controller and the 04 has the ngc controller. So it will work.I bought an engine with 16000 miles on it. I read all this stuff on these 2.7 engines. So I am using Castro 5w 30 with a half can of sea form for the extra detergent to help keep it clean. I will change it ever 2500 miles. I am hoping this will be fine. I bought the low mileage engine so it was clean from the start. So if you need help email me and I will fill you in on what you have to do.
