Hello,

My check engine light is on, when I had it diagnosed he said it read "cylinder 5 misfire".  Should I be looking for another problem besides plugs/plug wires???  Is replacing the plugs and wires a major undertaking?  I can't see the plugs, I imagine they are under the plenum...somewhere. lol

Thanks!

You mean you just had the code "scanned". A diag would have pin pointed the problem. Cyl missfire could be a plug, coil, injector, vacumm leak, broken valve spring, burnt valve or even wiring problems.

OK,

I took it to the Chrysler dealer.  They performed the "diagnostic". Said it was plugs, so I had them replace the plugs, $160.00.  That night the light went on again.  I took it back, they performed the "diagnostic".  Said it was the coil, so I had the coil replaced, no labor charge, but still another 61.00.  That was yesterday.  Today, on the way home from work for lunch, the light comes on again.  This is hardly any better than the scanning I had done earlier.  The problem is still not pinpointed, I am out over 200.00 and still have the problem.  Does anyone have any ideas?  I am concerned with the inability to properly diagnose the problem.

hey 1959,i know that engine has trouble with the valves.there is a tsb for rotating the valve springs and a group of other valve related problems.heres the tsb #09-010-06.have your dealer pull this up by your vin number make sure it applies.moe
