anyone here pioneered any engine swaps for the Sebring? I recently bought a 99 convertible for $500...has all kinds of electrical problems so I was thinking of swapping the engine out with maybe a 2JZ, K20, the engine in the SRT-4??whats that one called? or, even though I doubt it would fit, an LS1. I did a quick search and nothing turned up..just wanted to know if anyone had done it already and if not, I guess I will be the first to try it.

BadStratRT asks a good question......its not quite as easy as it sounds. Front wheel drive cars are not as easy to swap an engine as a rear wheel drive. Rear wheel you just have to fit up to a driveshaft, in a front wheel drive, you have to consider halfshaft alignment and length. In my opinoin.....(I know, everybody has one) a Sebring isn't my first choice for a performance car. People have great results with Cameros and Mustangs, and after market parts are dirt cheap.

I've swapped a 2jz into and s2000, twice swapped a 2zz into an MR2 Spyder, an sr20det into a 240sx and an 88 bmw, and 4 or 5 h22 and b18 swaps into civics. Yeah I know a sebring isnt anyones first (or 2nd or 3rd) choice for performance I just thought it would make a fun sleeper. I might give the srt4/gt cruiser swap a try since those motors are cheap. If I decide not to I can always make it a show car, I mean it was only $500 so I can afford to have some fun with it.
