Default 2000 300m trunk spoiler

The rear trunk spoiler on my 300m has rusted off the car. Looks like the metal rusted away where the supports meet the trunk lid. Is this a known problem for the 300m's and if so, does anyone know a fix for it? Really don't want to buy another spoiler right now.

Have not heard of issues like that (yet) Did the spoiler bolts rot or the trunk lid? FWIW the spoiler is a "dealer installed" item or aftermarket install. No M's left the factory with "spoilers"

Guess that would explain why there are a couple odd ball holes in the under side of the supports that don't line up with anything. The lid is fine. There seems to be a metal piece that is sandwiched between the lid and the bases of the spoiler that rusted away, which in turn let the two of the four screws holding it to the lid rust away. I thought about trying to run bigger screws through the lid and into the spoiler, but don't know how strong the spoiler itself would be to hold without the metal pieces in there. The metal pieces appear like they were molded into the spoiler bases too.

Most if not all the spoilers I have seen have threaded inserts moulded into the fiberglass mounts. Chance of drill/salvage/rethreaad inserts slim to none, glass usually cracks. Might find a good used one on ebay or somewhere but there are a few "styles" out there.

I have been searching all over web, but have yet to see the style that is on my 300m. I have two Pull-A-Parts close to me, both with a couple 300m's. Might hit those and see if I get lucky. Thanks for your help.

Success! Drilled the holes in the trunk lid slightly bigger, and drove bigger screws into the spoiler bases. Right now it feels very sturdy, but will keep eyes on it.
