Default 2000 LHS battery drain

Hey all,

I have a 2000 LHS and there is a .2 - .3 amp draw on the horn relay circuit, gonna be looking at in detail as soon as I can, does anyone know what might be draining that kind of power? Nothing in this vehicle has been modified.

Default Update

Just got some info from my mechanic, says the intrument cluster is causing the problem, 450$ part, and 500$ labour including the few hours of trouble shooting.

the horn and cluster have no circuits that cross over.

Default The End....finally

So, this is the story.

2000 LHS wouldn't start. Weak battery. Bought new battery. Battery dies again. I had an intermittent battery drain of about .3 amps, the mechanic searches for the drain. Looked like the horn circuit at first, then after more investigating it seemed like it was the cluster. Replaced the cluster, no improvement. More hours of investigating finds the culprit, the BCM was causing the draw. I sent my BCM to these fine folks: http://www.sp-ecu.com and they found a shorted component inside the BCM causing the drain. They sent the repaired BCM back to us, we installed it and there was no drain from the BCM. There still was a drain on the system however. After searching a while longer we found that this item, PIE chry98-aux audio adapter, was causing the drain and the extra drain through the radio/through the BCM is what blew the part inside it.

Damn.

Good news: I have a better than brand new BCM and don't expect to have any issues with it again.

Bad news: 1800$ down the drain.

So, I used these guys, great work, good people.

http://www.sp-ecu.com

They not only fixed my BCM, but as they know the problems/problem parts that break in BCM's, they replace the parts known for past breakage with higher quality parts than factory. For under 400$ with 3 day turn around.
