2000 LHS door lock screech
Out of the blue, a few days ago, the rear driver side power door lock on my 2000 LHS started screeching when being locked (but not unlocked). The plunger goes up and down easily, but the noise is incredibly loud and scares the heebeejeebies out of me every time the auto-lock kicks in at 15mph or so. Anything somebody who is moderately handy can do about it?
It's cold out, which I thought was a factor, but it also happens after driving for a while and the car is totally warmed up inside.

To repair a power lock actuator grinding noise (for a 2000 Chrysler Concorde) is this. Remove the actuator from the door (pain in the ***). Carefully disassemble the actuator. Note it comes apart very easily and if you think it needs to be pryed apart it doesn't, you haven't removed all of the screws. With your phone camera, take pictures as you disassemble to help you reassemble the unit. There is a swing gear that is moved by the small motor. This swing gear hits small rubber wedge bumpers on each end of it's swing. One bumper is located in the plastic cover portion and the other is in the main body. The gear wears a groove in the bumper until the gear can go too far and slip past the motor gear and make a grinding sound. You can carefully pull up on the bumpers to remove and flip over and reinstall up side down. Reassemble the unit and reinstall in the door. I've attached images of the bumpers. Cost for this repair $0, just your time.
