Default 2.7 valve/timing problem

Ok got myself into this mess so now have to fix it! Previous mechanic did a water pump but nothing else. It was off timing 2 teeth but ran great and quiet off the crank sensor with cam sensor unplugged. I tore it down replaced timing set, oil pump and water pump but seconded guessed myself and turned the crank by hand forgetting to put in the cam gear bolts. STUPID! Felt no interference so put it back together. Runs fine but has valve noise. Compression is 150lbs in all cylinders so do not think I have a bent valve but that should have happened from everything I read. Any ideas what else could be wrong? Looks like I tear back into it. Car is in great shape and always wanted another convertible.
Thanks fellow 2.7 haters/lovers??
