2004 Sebring and Poor Gas Mileage
I just purchased a 2004 Sebring 2.5 4 cyclinder w/ 40,000 miles on it..
I cannot get any better than 22 mpg highway
Changed the wires and spark plug, new air filter, tire pressure.. Took the car to the dealer they cleaned the throttle body... still only 18-22mpg.
I typically get less than 300 miles to a tank of gas... I just bought it 5 weeks ago.. I am ready to sell it and buy a Nissan!!!
Help

RE: 2004 Sebring and Poor Gas Mileage
I have the 2004 with 2.7L version, but have always been concerned about mileage. I have found a couple things that have kept the mileage up:
1. I have switched to NGK Vpower (copper) spark plugs from the Champion platinum;
2. Have you considered trying acetone in the gas? There is several websites that discuss its use. I used a concentration of 30 ml for every 40 L of gas (about 10 US gal). The theory is that the acetone helps to reduce the surface tension of the gas that will allow it to form a better fuel air ratio.
Naturally, you could have several other reasons for low mileage - poor cylinder compression, clogged fuel injectors, brake rubbing, bearings, a bad PCV or EGR values etc. I always hate to mention poor driving habits, but do consider this as well
