2007-2010 Sebring Voltage Regulator fix
My VR inside the PCM failed on my 2010 Sebring 2.4L .. Didn't like the price of a new PCM .. So, I modified the car with an external voltage regulator from a late 80s model .. They make kits for this conversion available on the internet an Ebay .. But ,those kits will not work with the original Sebring alternator because it has some of the electronics built into it .. So you will need an alternator for a 1995-1996 Dodge Dakota part number ( Carquest 13309A ) .. the mounts are similar enough that it will bolt right in .. The belt will need to be swapped to one that's slightly longer ( Part # 50610225 ) .. It's best to connect the field wires before you install it .. I also had to dremel tool the gaurd to except the fat power cable between the walls of the guard .. But other than these minor details ,it is a direct swap .. New alternator is rated at 120 Amps .. Stock was 115 Amp .. So, Once done you can convert it just like any pre 2000 model .. The alternator cast about $105 .. VR with plug about $35 .. Another $ 10 for wire gets everything charging again for less than $150 .. Beat the cast of a new PCM all to Hek ... Any questions contact me

2009 sebring i have a couple of question about a converting my alternator.
Did you use an external voltage regulator? Which one. Will this alternator fit my 2009 2.7? Did this work for you long term?

You can get a remanufactured PCM for about $200 or so and avoid a lot of the headaches trying to work around the problem. There are several sources for PCM's on the internet. Here's one:

You order the PCM and give them your VIN and mileage. They send you the PCM. You plug it in. That's all there is to it. They usually give you a pre-paid shipping box to send in your old one. It's very easy. I bought one from a different company on e-Bay. They were terrific, even available to answer questions over the phone.
