Default 2010 3.5 timing belt warning

I remember an issue on an older civic I had . When the timing belt broke all valves dropped and hit pistons and bent . Is this a problem on this engine . How hard is it to change timing belt on this car .

u have a 50 50 chance of hitting a valve
AS for how hard something is its relevant to who does it. Buy a service manual and take a look at what needs to be done then U can make that call for yourself.

I would not do the job myself - I guess I meant about how much would chrysler dealer charge to change it

I called chrysler - $1300 to replace belt if not broken . My car has 85k miles and 2010 . I just bought it from Chrysler dealer used . I also purchased the top of line chrysler maximum care warranty for full coverage of additional 3 year 45k miles with $200 deductible . If I don't change timing belt and it breaks and causes valve damage - would chrysler max care warranty cover it during that period .

I was not sure if Chrysler would pay to replace the timing belt if it broke at 125k miles because they recommend replacing it at 100k . Also Chryslers Maxicare warranty states that wear parts are not covered - to include rotors , pads and " ALL BELTS "

A timing belt job doesn't have to be done by a dealership. Although I wouldn't take it to a greasemonkey either. If it would mean being cheaper, I would take it to a general repair shop. I'm sure it would be cheaper.

I just had my concorde done and it cost me a little over $700.00 with the water pump at my local garage. Dealer charges too much and as long as you keep you receipt from a reputable garage, your good with your warranty.

Thanks for input - $700 with replaced water pump sounds good . I called chrysler - it's a Chrysler maxcare warranty - they said if belt breaks during warranty period they cover it and all damage it causes . I will double check again in several months to make sure this is correct info .
