The "brains" of the cruise control system is the PCM, so if there's a problem, it is likely in the PCM. There's no fuse because it's vacuum powered. Might want to talk with the people at the exchange.

Hey, tell us about the strut replacement. I have been thinking about doing mine but the parts I have seen online look inadequate to do the job. They sell struts but not the mounts and seats you need to do the job. Did you find quick strut or did you go the basic route?

Default P0601 Code is Back after 3rd PCM

The 3rd one lasted about 2 months. They did send the 3rd one and it worked for awhile. Not the Code is back and car wil start some times and not others. Before they sent me the 3rd computer they wewre trying to tell me that something in the car;s wiring is causing the computer to go bad.

Could that abe true? If it is true what do I look for?
This is getting frustraigting. We bought this car new for my wife in 2001.

Thanks in advance for any help.

To the person who asked about the rear strut mounts. They are made dy DORMAN.
Here is the Link. I got them at a NAPA parts store. They were hard to find. THis store which was a napa distribution center had to get them form some one else even.
But they are more sturdy that the stock cast ones.

I bought one for my 2001 Sebring on eBay for about $200. You send them your VIN and mileage, they program the computer and send it to you. You send the old one back to them. The price includes shipping. I was very satisfied with the service.

ya know... i had a similiar problem with an 'o1 sebring i had. i would idle bad alot, seem like it wanted to stall often, and had lots of problems starting. i usually had to crank on the gas pedal while trying to start it then pop it into gear before the idle would go back to 0 and stall. anyway, it took two dealerships and about 9 months to fix the problem. they replaced quite a few parts and were stumped. finally it was figured out. wish i could remember the exact name of the part. but all it was was a faulty wire... which cost about 950 to replace because of all the labor involed. taking out the dash and parts of the engine etc... dunno if that helps at all. anyway, good luck!

Hi. I also have a Sebring 2001 2.4 v4. 2 weeks ago the engine light turned on. It also reported a P0601; the only symptom is that it accelerates once in a while, I have related it when I turn on the a/c. My question is, are the accelerations consequence of a bad PCM? Or is it a totally different problem?
