Default Is i4 engine more reliable than 2.7L?

I'm in the market for a new convertible and just really like the sebrings. I just recently had a 2.7L blow after only a month of driving with the help of a bad mechanic I know if you maintain the car well it can last but I don't have the budget to buy new and have to buy used not knowing how the engine has been maintained. I saw a 2008 with what they said had an inline 4 cylinder engine. Was this a misprint or is this engine in some sebrings and reliable? How about the 2008 2.7L? Are they the same as the earlier year model engines?
