300c rough idling
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone is having the same problem with their 2006 300c hemi engine. I just bought the car about 5 weeks ago and the engine idles very rough. I have the car at the dealers to find out if they can fix it. Itidles roughly off and on, and it does not matter if the air conditioning is on or off. Does anyone have any insight.

Mine's a bit rough, too. Checked in with the service department. The vehicle is idling at spec'd RPM, has a lumpy cam, says the dealer. Sounds reasonable since I have the SRT8 butI noticed it in my previous 300C as well. There is a TSB out on the rough idle so hvae the dealer check it out.

Me too. Have an '05 w/ 16k miles, but at times it idles as if it had 61K miles or more on it...almost like "old school hemi" with loaded up carbs...
Don't know the answer, but it is odd. My '04 Hemi truck idles smoother, but frankly, I believe that is because it probably has stiffer motor mounts.

I have taken the car back to the dealer and they tell me there is nothing they can do. I did drive in another 2006 300c with the Service manager. That car did not idle roughly when stopped at a light. How do you know that there is a TSB out on this. My dealer says there is nothing out. They did update the module and the computer but there was no change. Just atiny bit better mileage

RE: 300c rough idling
I was at the dealer last week and asked about the rough idling and any related TSBs. He looked it up and said there was one which covered a multitude of items including rough idle, hesitation and choppiness in shifts under aggressive acceleration, all of which my 300C does. However, it also covered temp light coming on, cooling issues, etc., that I have not experienced. My question, is a "reflash" worth it or do I have the potential of screwing up other items?? I'm paranoid as my '99 Durango has run like crap ever since it's computer was replaced and the dealer says there is nothing they can do on that one. Provides little comfort/incentive to do the 300.

RE: 300c rough idling
describe CRAP as in less performance?? then yeah that a detune to get rid of spark knock. The new computer had the latest software in it. The flash of your computer does not have a de tune in the tsb so it wont affect things like that.

Yep, Crap = having about 70% of the power as before and I can detect detonation if I've got my foot in it. Even the AC on bogs it down...not quite the 5.9 I had before...
As for the 300C, good to know it would not be the same deal. Just not sure the rough idle is worth it being messed with???

RE: 300c rough idling
I have taken my 300C in again because of rough idle. The head seervice manager says that it could be caused because of 87 octain gas. Does anyone have an opinion or infromation about this. He said that there have been occations when the car has stalled because of using 87. He also said that it is possible that it could be the jets. If nothing shows up on the computer , they are going to call Chrysler to see if there are any other things reported and then possibly clean the jets? I took the manager out for a drive so he could feel the rocking because of the idle. I get the feeling that they are going to say that it is a normal function for these cars
