Default Chrysler 300 Engine Temperature

Hi, I'm buying a used 2010 Chrysler 300 Touring car and the temp gauge went up to the half-way mark between hot and cold and stayed there during the test drive. I was running the A/C to make sure it worked ok, but it was late in the day and not hot outside. Is this normal? The car I'm replacing is an old Ford where the temp gauge never gets up to the half-way mark unless I'm low on coolant (or oil).
