Chrysler 300 Evaluation
I recently got a new 2015 Chrysler 300 and have been driving it now for 4 months. It handles very well for such a big vehicle, gets great gas mileage, has a great driver/nav/radio/phone interface, is very comfortable with lots of front and back seat room, and is quiet on smooth asphalt.
Unfortunately, the car tires are not quiet on pavement with aggregate, and make a racket on sections of road. The car came equipped with Michelin P215/65R17 tires.
Has anyone else noticed this problem, and if so, how did you fix it? Are there better (quieter) tires out there for this type of pavement?

The Firestone tires that came stock on my 16' 300s are quiet as a mouse. I know Michelin is supposed to be some of the best out there but IME over the years when I've tried them, I was sadly disappointed. Last pair was in June 16' on my 2500HD

Thanks. If they are quiet on pavement with aggregate (which seems to be increasingly used in new paving projects here in Virginia) I will switch them out. What are size and type Firestones are you using?

my tire size is 245/45R20 so different than yours. I believe these are the Firestone Firehawk GT series tires.

While there's not a lot of activity here, I'll ask anyway: how satisfied are you now? I've been thinking about a 300C for a while. I recently rented one and was very happy with it, even with the V6.
Any "issues" that you've uncovered?
Thanks

Hi,
Sorry about the delay; I've been traveling in my new 2015 300 Limited. Just got back from a 2000 mile road trip to Florida. Absolutely delighted with the car on the trip, runs like a Swiss watch, handles well, super nav/Sirius/phone interface, the V6 has plenty of power and gets GREAT highway gas mileage; got up to 34.7 mpg on the interstate, cruising at 75 mph.
Only complaints are some of the traffic/accident symbols on the nav map are hard to decipher, especially at speed; also, the tires are noisy on some road surfaces with aggregate. This is a pet peeve of mine; a car of this class should be quiet on ALL road surfaces, not just some.
Hope this helps.l

AP, is this still the stock tires you were talking about in previous posts? The Firestone tires I have, I'm still enjoying the quiet rides.

Having had a 2014 300 rental car in the States on a recent holiday, I had to get one back here in the UK. Ive got a 2009 300C 3 litre V6 diesel wagon model.
Utterly delighted with the car in every way. The 3 litre diesel engine and the 5 speed auto gearbox are Mercedes sourced and they are a perfect match to the car. On a run on the motorway with the cruise control set at 70mph, the car averages 51 MPG, and does about 29 MPG around town. (51 UK MPG is 42 US MPG)
I cant fault the car in any way at all, the build quality is excellent (all European models were built in Austria) and its silent, fast and powerful. I would recomment one to anyone.
