Getting a P0406 code ("EGR valve - high voltage") on engine light. Has anyone been successful in replacing the EGR valve on a 300 Touring 3.5L engine without removing the intake manifold cover? How about from underneath the car and reaching up? I can't even see the valve from the top because of the over-sized intake, let alone trying to get my hand in to remove it!

 

u can do it either way remove intake or for under the car

 

Perfect. I appreciate the option--I'd rather remove from underneath than to have to remove the intake manifold! At this point, the P0406 check engine code hasn't reappeared for a few weeks, and I've heard from some shops that some of the throwing of codes is not because the valve is necessarily defective, but sometimes it is related to a calibration problem with the sensitivity of the sensor and/or electronic control module. What do you think?

 

replace the egr the control part of the egr is what has failed I would remove the intake that's what I do and replace the plugs while U are there with champion plat only

 

was under my 2006 chrysler 300 3.5 engine this morning checking to see how to change egr valve. looks like it has maybe one tube coming from it, my question is how do i unlock the electrical connector from the valve ?what holds the connector on?

2005 3.5L RWD. Getting code P0404, appears the answer to replace EGR assembly.

I have the service manual, which says to remove the upper intake manifold, which I would rather NOT do! Car has 40K, don't really want to disturb it if possible.

If i want to change the EGR valve without removing the upper intake, how difficult is the job, and how about how long will it take? I have decent tools and mechanical aptitude.
