Parts interchangability between 01 300 and 04 Intrepid?
First off, new to this forum. Looking forward to "meeting" everyone.
I've got an 04 Intrepid SXT that's beat to hell but has a good motor and trans. I picked up an 01 300 with the same motor but has a nasty rod knock. I know the motor will interchange pretty much directly but I'm curious as to what else might directly swap.
Windshield?
Brake pads, rotors, calipers?
Transmission? The 300 has one of those deals where you can shift manually by pulling it all the way down and tapping the stick from side to side. I forget the name of it. The Intrepid just has the 4speed automatic. I doubt there's a difference in the engine or torque converter but you never know.
Exhaust?
That's about all I can think of that is still good on the Intrepid and worth saving.
Thanks in advance,
Wayne

Ok...let's try this. Does anyone know of a free parts interchange resource online?
I did a search for interchange info but they all lead to a manual to sell. Or a pay online site. I only need to know about this particular vehical.
Thanks,
Wayne

"Windshield? Direct swap all "LH" some have shaade at top, some not but fit.
Brake pads, rotors, calipers" Direct swap if 17" wheels, some Intrepid w/16" wheels have smaller dia rotors.
Trans: Same except some early year have different pins for the connector yet can be adapted to fit.
Exhaust should be the same..
Engines are basically the same BUT there is a change in the Electronics after 2001. A seperate PCM and TCM were used 01 and down. 02 and up combined both into the NGC PCM. You will need to swap some parts but it can be done:

Firem,
Thanks for the reply.
So I'm clear, the windshild out of the 04 intrepid WILL work on the 01 300?
The motor. I don't want to have to use the computer and harness from the intrepid. It's got issues. I think the computer is glitchy. Either that or there's an issue in the harness somewhere. Either way, I don't want to go through that.
What exactly do I need to do to make the motor from my 04 intrepid work in the 01 300 using the computer and harness from the 300? What parts will I need to swap from the dead motor from the 300 to the good motor from the intrepid to make it work in the 300?
Thanks in advance,
Wayne

Windshield yes direct fit.
Engine: you will need to "groom" the 04 engine to the 01 car. Use the parts listed in the linked thread as a guide. Flywheel, left cam sprcket, engine wire harness, EGR set up, SRV, Throttle body etc needs to be reused from the 01 engine. Failure to swap the proper parts and the car will not start. You want to install a new timing belt and water pump when doing this project. Interference engine and valves will bend if the belt fails. Service interval 7 yrs/105k

Thanks firem, I was not aware of all the changes that were necessary.
Now I know.
I was little confused by the linked page info regarding the plenum.
If I use the 01's plenum on the 04 motor that's going into the 01 300, I don't have to convert all the items correct? That info is only if you were going to leave the 04 plenum on the 04 motor right?
Thanks, you've been a big help.

01 has EGR, 04 most likely not, 01 has vacuum actuator for the SRV 04 has electric. That is why the plenum and throttle body need be swapped and stay with the "car". If the 04 engine does not have EGR it is just a plug in the rear of the head that gets removed and the EGR bolts right on. The process is not that bad

Are the 03-04 3.5l motors interchangeable with a 2002 300M?
Hello,
I just bought a 2002 300m that has a knock, and everywhere I am calling and pricing is showing the 02 motor as specific to that year. I have read many forums stating the 02-04 years are the same plug-in-play motors, but are they really? I have not seen many posts discussing just the 02 interchange capabilities. I don't mind swapping parts, but does anyone know the real difference?
Thanks,
Jordan

99-01 may be used in 02 and up with some parts swaps due to electronics changes. Early years seperate TCM & PCM laters years combined into NGC PCM for both.
Internals same 99-04
