AC is not cold when sitting idle
#5
well I took my truck to a friend who works on cars and he said that I have enough freon in the system and that fan is working properly. I did notice though that if i'm parked somewhere and air doesn't get cold as soon as i tap on the gas pedal to raise the rpms the air starts to get colder. I'm not sure but i'm guessing my fan might be a little week. I'm going to look further into that

In my experience, auto a/c is never as cold at idle as it is when you're in motion. Until you get air moving over the condenser, the air doesn't seem to really get ice cold.
When our weather gets into the 90s, the air will be cool, but not cold at idle. It takes movement to really get the system blowing cold air.
The volume of air being put out can also have an impact. Is it colder on lower fan speeds at idle?

I just took mine in to dealer for this issue. They replaced the module that switches between heat and cold. I tried to find the invoice but couldn't find it. At first they actually wrote down on the return invoice that the air passing over the condenser has to be moving in order to cool. That's unacceptable in this vehicle. It cools better but still no match to the cooling in my avalanche and crossfire sitting still. Moving it chills nicely, but even at at stoplight it begins to warm up. I'm in AZ where it was 109 today, and it's insufficient. Definitely not a quality of the Aspen or maybe Dodge, Chrysler altogether.
