Got a Flowmaster SUV muffler installed on my 4.7 Aspen! WOW, it sounds awesome, I didn't realize the 4.7 could sound that good? Got rid of the stock 3 foot long muffler and that ugly resonator on the back! Think I lost 75 pounds getting rid of all that stuff! The 4.7 actually feels like it gained a few horses and torque, it was actually quite noticeable! This is the only vehicle where a muffler changeout actually helped quite a bit! Anyways, for those of you with the 4.7 Aspen, the Super 50 (SUV) - Three Chamber Muffler is the way to go on the Aspen with the 4.7. I also made the pipe exit out the side instead of straight out the rear! It's nice hearing the engine actually running now!

I had a Borla catback on my 5.7 and it sounded horrible when the MDS (or whatever Chrysler calls that displacement on demand system) kicked on. Talk about awful drone. I take it the 4.7 doesn't have that?

^ Nope -- 4.7 doesn't have MDS. I'd like to do something to mine, but I'm in fear. I'm tempted to just remove the rear resonator. Do you think there would be drone with just the stock muffler & no resonator? I noticed even the Magnaflow catback system has a resonator. I'd like to get it, but I don't have an extra $400+ laying around. I could remove the rear resonator for about $50.

Just removing the resonator wouldn't really help. If you could see the stock muffler you'd get rid of it ASAP! The thing is 3 feet long and weighs over 60 pounds! Mine doesn't drone with just the Flowmaster muffler and no resonator on it. Just make sure you use the more mellow muffler like I did and you should be good!
Yes, I have been under there, and inspected the exhaust. The muffler is huge. one would think you wouldn't need a resonator with that large of muffler. I could do it in baby steps: remove resonator first -- because that's the cheapest route. The downfall would be that any piping a shop uses is aluminized steel, and factory is stainless.

Hack that thing off and go for a drive! It wasn't even close to what I wanted but give it a try! Don't add any pipe till you know you like the sound.....
