Hello all. I looked far and wide for a used Aspen and I found the perfect one. Color, options, condition, mileage and price. Went and drove 3 hrs today to pick it up and upon leaving and traveling less than one mile from the dealership... all hell broke loose! Oil light, check engine light, hard knocking. Uh-huh. Called dealership immediately and when I brought it back they said they would take care of things and make it right. Another 3 hours home... no Aspen. Let's hope Monday brings good news.

If you haven't already, I recommend getting your money back. It sounds like you're inheriting someone else's problems.
I did test drive it. They said it was a faulty oil pump. They said there was no engine damage since it was found so quickly. They have assured me that the vehicle will be fine. It goes down to giving them the chance to show it the Chrysler 5 star dealership standing has any merit. The GM has told me that they will make this right and I'll be happy in the end. We'll see............
Well, I call BS on the oil pump failure. No engine damage my @ss...lol. Make them replace the engine or walk. That's my advice. That one mile you drove it and the idle time they had to diagnose it did some wear to the bearing and the cylinders I promise you. Anyway...IT KNOCKED...that means damage. 5 Star doesn't mean jack doodie, especially to you because you won't get a survey from buying a used car. Only new car buyers get them and that's one of the criteria they use for 5 Star. The survey process is heavily manipulated by dealer GMs. Not just by Chrysler but by every car maker.
New member on here and have learned quite a bit of information so far from the folks on this forum.
I would either return it for a FULL REFUND or make the dealer install a NEW factory engine ( not rebuilt one ). Like others have said from your description of the problem the engine has suffered major damage!!!
I understand what you are saying about finding a "GOOD" used Aspen. The wife and I scoured the Internet for dealers in a 250 mile range and spent a year of fairly dilligent searching before we found one we felt was right ( condition, mileage, options, ect. ) we would have perfered a silver or vanilla color, but the Steel Blue Metallic we bought looks very good also although having a 1/2 mile of gravel road it will show the dust much more. While the wife wanted a 5.7 Hemi this one has the 4.7 Flex Fuel engine and being a 2008 model it seems many people feel it is much better than the 2007 4.7L. Personally I don't know why anyone would burn E85 in a vehicle though!!!!
How did this story turn out anyway? The last post prolly didn't notice that this thread began in 2010.
Yeah, people hardly ever come back to update. Of course you know they are always more inclined to come and post when they're pissed off rather than happy...lol.
