crossfire liftgate rattle
Hi everyone. I just bought my 04 crossfire(white on black, manual) and really love it. There is a rattle way in the back of the car which isn't serious but is kind of annoying. I think it's the liftgate. The dealership says that they can try and fix it but historically it doesn't really improve much. Has anyone else had this problem and found a successful resolution for it?

crossfire liftgate rattle
Hi xfire04
I have joined that forum too.
I searched the crossfire forum and found lots of suggestions for my liftgate rattle problem. Went out and bought some black electrical tape. Wound it around the "c" shaped bar in the latch 5 times and voila - no more rattle. Not sure how long it will last but how many rolls of tape can you buy before it becomes a losing proposition against the $300 the dealership wanted to replace the latch.
cheers all

I had a rattle like that in the tailgate window of my Sable station wagon. I was able to adjust the latch a little to pull the glass a little tighter against the weatherstrip. It cured the problem. I think the weatherstrip loses a little of its resiliency as it ages and thus allows the closure panel to move more freely. When the panel can move, it bounces the latch against the catch. Wrapping tape around the catch works because it puts something non-metallic in between the metal parts.
