Default 2004 Pacifica Immobilizer

Hi,
I just bought a 2004 Pacifica with only 34k miles on it. I have only had it for about a month now. It was a "grandpa" vehicle and is in great shape.

Today I was driving it and got in and out of the car during several stops over about 2 hour period and it started fine every time. I then made a stop at another store and it would not start when I got back in the car. I got two messages on my console. Service / System Immobilizer and Tire Pressure Monitor System. The TPS light came on and then eventually went off. I did not have any problems with the air pressure. I dont know if these two code errors were linked?

I get a crank but I am not showing any RPMs. The battery is fine. Starter is fine.

My only thought is that I hung up my work key fob (which is magnetic) for the first time ever, today over my rear view mirror and the work fob hangs near the ignition switch and key. Within 30 minutes of hanging this work fob over the mirror the car would not start. Coincidence? Could this have erased the codes?

Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

Any suggestions also about to maybe the best / cheapest places to get a key recoded?

Wont be a key issue will more then likely be a skim module issue. a key does not get programmed the key is programmed to the car.

Default Skim Module

Is the skim module something that could have been reset by the work key fob?

Is this a problem that I would have to have fixed at a Chrysler dealer or can I have this fixed with another mechanic?

I had my car towed to my house. I wanted to try to work on it at home.

I also saw something that the pacificas have a problem with Ground wires off of the negative battery terminal. Have you ever seen an issue with this?

Default Super Dad Solves Dilemna

Turns out on this situation it was the ASD fuse. When I checked the fuse yesterday I was not able to located a burnt out fuse. It was very difficult to see. After we changed the fuse it started right up. Hope this helps others!

u still have an issue because a fuse do not just blow something on that circuit drew to many amps and blew the fuse.

Any idea what would cause the fuse to blow? It is fuse 37, ASD. I am guessing it is a short, but not sure what wires go along with the fuse. I have been trying to find a wiring diagram but have been unsuccessful so far.

buy a service manual or factory manual online no way of telling with out looking to see whats on teh circuit of the fuse.
