2005 Pacifica Exhaust Leak at Muffler
I have a 2005 Pacifica with 3.5V6. I have had starter, shifter cable linkage and now muffler problems in the last 6 months. I have had this vehicle since 2008 with no problems. Anyways, I do all of my own work on our vehicles and I was trying to see if anyone else had insight on my current problem.
Today my wife noticed the car sounded louder. I figured out pretty quickly it was an exhaust leak. I traced it down to the connection between the cat and the muffler. When I looked under the car I could see that the muffler was hanging low and at an angle. I didn't notice any exhaust hangers near there that would have come loose. Is it the pipe between or is there a connection to the chassis that I'm missing?

I had some time and dry weather today so I was able to get it up on ramps. The cat fits into the center muffler with a torca clamp around the whole thing. I loosened the clamp and was able to slide the cat back into the muffler and tighten the clamp back down. Evidently my wife bottomed the car out in a particularly un-level intersection the other day that evidently pulled the center muffler towards the back of the car separating the two. All seems better now! Maybe this will help someone else.
