Default Liftgate problems?

I purchased a 2004 lease return Pacifica in March 2006, and overall love the car. I have the some of the same concerns others have (namely gas mileage), but I have one problem I can't seem to get Chrysler service to take care of.

My Pacifica has the power open/close liftgate. If I leave the gate open for any period of time over 15 minutes or so, the liftgate is nearly impossible to close manually. The gate struts appear to be freezing; if the power closer is used, the struts groan and moan as the close. I've had the car in twice for this - both times I'm told "normal operation." Anyone else with any similar problems, or any suggestions?

Default RE: Liftgate problems?

This is not normal. Where abouts do you live,or do you know what part of the country the car came from. It is possiable the steel rod on the supports have some rust on them. This usually makes the lift gate hard to open. The rust forms right on the ends and is on cars in the heavy snow and SALT belt.
