Noise / Vibration from rear drivetrain
[X(]I have a 2004 Pacifica AWD with 74,000 miles. I have noted a recent shudder and noise coming from the right rear wheel. It is not a tire noise. I think it may be a bad wheel hub assy or rear transfer case. I lifted the car and spun the right rear wheel and the wheel had a thumping noise. The left wheel had the same but not as loud.Is this normal when you spin the wheel or does it sound like the bearingis going in the hub assy? I hope it is not the transfer case assy! Thanks!!

RE: Noise / Vibration from rear drivetrain
It sounds like a bearing to me. Have you ever changed the fluid in the differential? I would do that and have the bearings checked. It's not unheard of to have your bearings go at that mileage.

Thanks for the response!! Yes, I've had the differential fluid changed. Ialso checked the differential fluidlevel and it was fine. I agree with you that it sounds more like a bearing problem. It sounds like it is coming from the passenger side rear.

Possibly Not drive train... or bearing
Pacifica 2004 190k miles.. front drive....driver side rear back brake plate bent from parking brake shoe coming loose and catching on rotor... clips that held parking brake shoe broke ...shoe dropped loose and got into rotor area banging and clanging...sheared end of parking brake shoe in process and bent back plate of brake housing. Rotor okay... had to replace back plate....could not be bent back..replaced brakeshoe and pads as well...
