Oil pan plug

Oil pan plug
I bought an 06 Pacifica with the 3.5L engine in June and crawled under it this evening to change the oil for the first time. I have never ran into an oil pan plug that I could not remove...until today. I have to wonder when the last time was that the oil was actually changed. Not sure how to remove it. Anyone have any ideas?

It's possible to change the oil by inserting a tube down where the dipstick goes and sucking the old oil out. That's the standard method for changing oil in boat engines. There are pumps available in boating stores specifically designed for that.
If you don't want to go that route, you might take it to a garage as long as you understand that if they break off or strip the head of the drain plug, they will need to drill it out or otherwise repair the oil pan. You could try a bigger wrench at home but if you break something you could be in for a towing bill along with repair costs.

make it come out!!!!
I actually had the opposite problem... My FIL told my wife her car was leaking oil... I crawled underneath, and the oil plug was half out... tried to tighten it, and couldn't.... I can't say it was 100% Jiffy Lube's fault... but my wife THINKS that was the last place that serviced it. I removed the oil pan, and inserted a Time-SERT..... The kit was expensive!!!! BUT IT WAS AN AWESOME repair.... very sturdy, and doesn't leak anymore.... plus. because it has a permanent steel insert now, wont be stripping out anytime soon
