Unhappy Radio problem

My 07 Pac with base radio has very poor reception. This problem first showed up during mid winter this year just after my 36k miles had past and was intermittant each cold morning for about 2 to 10 minutes and lasted that way for about 3 weeks when it never came back to normal operation. As my warranty is up, I have been trying to find out if the problem is in the radio, or if there is an amplifier for the antenna that might have given up the ghost. The radio works perfectly with a CD, and when close ( within about 10 miles) to a strong FM station. AM, I must be right on top of one to receive it. Anyone with help or answers will be greatly appreciated, before I resort to the expense of a dealer.

Do you have the antenna in the window or in the roof?

Have you had any work on the dash where the radio had to be removed? i.e maybe the antenna wire came out of the radio? Can you pull the radio and check?

I would check connections, and if its the antenna in the rear corner glass, make sure its intact.

Is the 07 antenna amplified? My Jetta's roof antenna is amplified at the base and they tend to corrode on this car. I need to change mine but users have reported after changing out the base, the reception once becomes crystal again. But first check the connections on each end.

The antenna on my 2006 Pacifica is amplified. If you look behind the glove box you will see the antenna wire running accross the firewall with another wire piggybacked on top. This is the power wire to the antenna amp. Make sure this wire has power, if not run power from the ignition or stereo harness. I'm not sure where the antenna amp is, but I'm sure if you follow the wires you will run into it eventually.
