How many ppl use 87 octane regularly? The way gas is going up I would like to know if anyone see issues with using it an a steady basis?

 

We have been using 87 for a while now just for that reason and have had no problems. It's been said that the higher 89 octane will give you better performance and I have seen this to some small degree but I've read about a couple of guys who only use 87 and swear that there's no difference what so ever. Once in a blue moon I'll put 89 in but we usually use 87 and it's fine.

 

We have always used 87 in our '04 AWD and have had no problems.

 

I've been using 87 Octane on my '06 since I got it August 2006. But I notice a drop in mileage if I get gas a cheap place instead of BP or Shell

 

We have an 07 4. L with the 6 speed auto tran. We have used 89 twice in 11,800 miles. The 89 octane made no difference that was noticable, not in mpg or power or smoothness of the engine. My verdict unless you are in high altitude or pulling a trailer the extra octane is putting money down a hole. (the gas tank filler) This mifgt not be the same for the 3.5 L or the 3.8 L engines.
