Default Power windows

'O8 Pacifica,
I have a problem with the power windows. All windows stopped working at the same time. I brought it to the dealer and they replaced a 40A fuse.
3 weeks later the windows do not work again. I consulted the owners manual to determine which fuse needs to be replaced. The owners manual indicates that a 40A fuse should be in position #40 for the drivers door node and a 40A fuse for position # 41 for the passenger door node. When I examined the fuse panel there is only 1 fuse. The #41 position has a blown fuse and position #40 does not have a fuse at all. Is this correct or did the dealer miss this? I replaced the blown fuse in position #41 and the windows work again. Should I place a fuse in the #40 position which is empty?

No....

The extra fuse hole is for the "Express Up" option, where BOTH door modules require a power supply. Very Few cars actually got this option in production, and if all windows are working on just 1 fuse...Your Car doesnt have it either...

I would be more concerned about what blows the fuse in the first place?????

I brought the vehicle back to the dealer. I received a call from the Service Advisor and was told that they found a short in the passenger side dash and door and need to take it apart to fix it. $$$$$$
When I asked why they did not fix it 2 weeks ago the answer was:"They did not fix it last time (2 weeks ago) because they could not find the short so they just changed the fuse and gave the vehicle back to me". $$
Lousy service!

if the short is not present when its there for service how do u expect them to find it?
Do u get mad when the DR tells u to come back in a month for a check up to see if what he did worked? and if not tries something else? Even if tests are run they still need to find out what is going on then what action needs to be corrected. Plus what did they charge u to replace a fuse 2x? No shop will just tearing into a wire issues with out your permission because some one has to pay the tech and if u walk up and they tell u its going to be 300 bucks for the repair and then u say well i did not say that u could spend that money and your car is fixed whos gonna pay for the time the guys spent finding it and fixing it?

To replace the fuse the first time was $140. To repair the short and replace the fuse the second time was $660. When I picked up the vehicle the express up feature was not working. They had to bring it back into the shop and "recalibrate the windows". Didn't take long but should not have been necessary.
Lousy service.
