Default UConnect - Aftermarket install, any good?

I was looking to purchase an aftemarket UConnect from the dealer and the parts guy told me that they do not order them for customers anymore since they had so many unhappy customers who purchased them. He said that he had heard that there was an updated system coming out that addressed the poor performance of the previous systems but wasnt sure if it was available yet.

Does anyone have any experience with this add-on UConnect? Is it worth the money?

Thanks for your help.

I know of one guy that really likes his if you can get passed the module you mount on the dash, speaker down below and mike on the visor. My wife did not want this stuff hanging off the dash. Look up Blueconnect from AutoIntelligence. They are makers of the factory installed version. I just bought this unit for the wife's car and it will mount in thesunglass holder or headliner. I still need to install it after Christmas. Does not intergrate like the factory system but it will do for now.

It might mute the radio (not 100% sure about this) but that is it. It is a standalone type unitso you get no display from it on the radio. You get no display at all... in terms of caller ID. It has a separate speaker, mic, control button panel.. all these thing have to be mounted in the car.
