Default air con

Just bought a 2003 pt cruiser 2 weeks ago and the air con has gone down. It stopped working and there was a hissing sound from the front grill. Think something has slipped and the gas is escaping. However has anyone had this happen and is it a usual fault with these cars?

Do you still get a hissing noise or was it just that one time. It could be a leak in the hoses or the condensor without lookin at it or testing it its kinda a crap shoot

There are many things it could be, a bad heat exchanger or a bad gasket for the connections or a bad hose.

I would get a UV dye kit and see if you can pin point the leak.
