Default 1997 Chrysler Seabring xji stalls

Hello, recently I my seabring stalled without any prior syntoms or warning lights with the exception of the oil light that didn't come on until the car was completly stoped. The oil was about a quart and a half below full. All the electrics were still working and the water temp. was normal. It started up right away, no more than a few seconds and drove normal for about a mile when it stalled again. I waited about 30 minutes and it again started right away and drove normaly but the tech. nettle pegged at 0 RPM's but the actual RPM's did not decrease and if drove normally then jumped back to 2000 RPM's but no change in engine sound. I drove it for about 7 miles when it stalled again. Again it started right up again (no waiting). I got home and in park it idled smothly at 900 RPM's. The next day, it started without hesitation and idled at 900 for about half an hour until I shut it off. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

I have seen a lot of posts where others are having stall problems, but have not seen one where the engine starts right away without waiting. Most have to wait some time before starting. Also the tech. nettle droping to 0 RPM's without engine sound decrese and remaining at 0 for about a minute before jumping back to 2000 is a bit confusing to me. When it does stall, it drops to about 400-500 RPM's a few seconds before cutting out completly.

1. Don't drive around with your oil a quart and a half low, you are flirting with serious trouble.
2. Every engine problem diagnosis should start with a check for trouble codes in the engine computer. Get those codes and come back here to see if somebody can help.
