Default K&N CAI for Sebring 3.5

Being bored today, I had a chance to take a look at the K&N CAI that was on the SRT8 and adapted it to fit the Sebring. It was fun getting the cuts on the inlet tubing correct to fit something totally different. Ill probably finish it tomorrow and get some pictures.
According to the website, (which doesnt have one for the Sebring 3.5L) a 3.5 300 CAI gives approx 12 horsepower and usually 15% better MPG. Ill take that for an afternoon of fun redesigning a kit!

Yeah, it is right behind the headlight and fresh air is available in that corner. I would like to design a heat sheild for it, but the shield from the Magnum is fairly heavy metal and isnt going to bend easily.
Do you have any idea if there are any chips/tuners for these engines? I know this 3.5 has more than 235hp locked up in it, as the LX 3.5 are 250-255hp. In a much lighter Sebring, that should be much quicker.

Your picture seems to show the filter element drawing air that is basically right in line with the fan output. Where does the cold air come in to this arrangement?

While it may apprear like that, its actually behind the headlight. There are plenty of openings for fresh air in that corner. And the bottom is wide open to draw out the heat when moving.

Id look for a used K&N kit for a LX hemi. I can get some detailed pictures of the cuts and whatnot, if your interested.
