2002 coupe valve cover leak. fix or not?
I just bought this car. I had it checked out first and was told it had a valve cover leak. The mechanic said he wouldnt even bother repairing it since the car has 167k miles on it and the leak wasnt very bad. Would you consider repairing it or letting it go?

It depends. If I wanted to park the car in my garage or driveway, I wouldn't want to be creating an oil spot. If I was parking in the street or in a public parking lot, I wouldn't care as much. If it was leaking enough to create a danger of running low on oil between changes, I'd be more inclined to want it fixed. If it was blowing oil all over the car and dripping on the exhaust pipe or catalytic converter creating bad smells or a danger of fire, I'd be more inclined to want it fixed. If it was the front valve cover, which is easier to get to than the rear, I'd be more inclined to fix it.
If I didn't plan on keeping the car very long, I'd be less inclined toward fixing it.
You might answer all these questions differently, so there's no one answer. You're gonna have to make up your own mind on this one.

Good thoughts. I was told around $700 to fix it. I rent so dont really care too much about the parking lot. I only spent $900 for the car and honestly while its not in bad shape it does have 167k miles on it so im thinking of not keeping it very long. Doing very minimum work on it and hoping to get a year out of it. The previous owner said hes down a quart about every 2000 miles or so
