96 sebring tranny issues
Help!!!
96 Sebring stuck in limp mode. Mechanic gets "conflicting codes" and generally seems discouraging in repairing it. Actually "is it worth it for a car with 173,000 miles? Just let it go) SO .........odd that he wouldn't suggest replacement or rebuild at worst case don't it?
We love this car, and I hate to let go to the scrap heap. The thing is in excellent shape ....other than the not shifting.
SO in speaking on other forums, I have been told it COULD be as simple as the speed sensors. A "simple" fix.........if I could FIND the second sensor. I have located one at the front of the transmission roughly behind the front drivers side wheel. But where the HECK is the other??!?!?!?!?!?
Any help would be very appreciated.
Also has anyone else ever experienced this and fixed it??????

So, where do I find a mechanic with a clue? No offense to Chrysler tech but the local "stealership" does not have a good rep for dealing square. I am sure some dealer service centers are reputable but not this one.
I would be willing to "try" the speed sensors myself (rather handy with tools-but don't have the tools/facility for a full tranny replacement) if I could FIND the darn second one, I could at least remove that possibility. THen if thats a no fix.......drag her in.
I know this particular transmission---or some form--- has been installed on numerous model Chryslers since the late 80's. It can't be that huge a mystery.

never said it had to be the dealer I send it to them when there is an issue that local places wont have the knowledge about doing this repair. Call around ask friends use the web to search for places in your area use the tools at your disposal to track a place down.
