Hi all Just had to have a new oil pump/balance shaft module fitted to my 2ltr diesel. the problem is the engine is the VW 2ltr which has a problem with these modules. It took nearly 10 weeks for the work to be complete due to being unable to get a new module because of back orders.

The problem is the drive to the oil pump is only driven by a 6mm allen bar which is insufficent for the job it has to do. Mine gave in at 60290 miles which is 290 outside warranty. Received good will for the pump i had to pay labour etc, my bill was £650. Chrysler value the pump at £1500 but VW price is £1000 approx big difference.
Check on VW or Audi forums to see how many have this problem.

Bugger. Just bought one of these an ex mobility car. Only had it 5 days and the turbo is howling big time under acceleration. So it's either a vacuum leak which i have found what looks like a 5 mil slice almost like someone has slit it with a Stanley knife or that has nothing to do with the howl and the turbo is dying. Or both known ny luck.
Either way the garage is going to fix and pay for it. They don't know this fact yet but they soon will.
Also feels like tow clutch could be on it's way out due to thebite been so high and a judder in engagement in first.
All these oil pump problems are starting to worry me.
If my other car hadn't have failed it's MOT i would have had a Jaguar xf by August. Hate making rush bloody buys!
Any help on the howling if you think it could be something else then all advice and opinions welcome.

I had a mechanic in the car a couple of week ago in the car, he said the howling was the wastegate opening,turbo on mine is pulling OK just has the noise which wasn't there before the oil pump problem!

I have it booked in at the garage that i bought the car off on Wednesday.
Just hope the fact i can here the turbo isn't the oil pump rearing it's ugly head.
I'll let you know as soon as i do what the outcome is.

It wouldn't be the oil pump,if the oil light came on then that can affect the turbo has it needs a good supply of oil.

Well they have to wait for the big vacuum pipe at the front of the engine.
It had a tiny slit in it. They want to see if that was the reason it would stall when setting off when cold.
A question, a friend i spoke to said when the oil starts to take on a thick and slightly lumpy texture i am in line for a problem.
Does this sound like a problem in the making or am i just been a bit too worrying?
I have asked the garage to have a look at it regardless.

Got my turbo hose replaced and not the turbo is quiet. But the car still idles erratically for about the first few mins on start up so when you move off if you don't over compensate with the amount of revs normally needed to pull away, the car will stall.
It's going back in to be put on the diagnostic system at the local Chrysler dealer. If it doesn't get sorted this time then i will be taking it back and getting my money back.
The supplying dealer hasn't been very good for such a large dealership. I have had much better service from smaller dealers.

Well the supplying dealer has now had the car longer than i have had it. Sick as a dog.

Well.... I have had to return the car to the supplying dealer.
The car was still in the Chrysler garage as i returned all the documents, it was returned mainly due to the dealers after sales service. I won't name names although wish i could.
Shame the car seemed lovely until problems started.
