Default Transmission problem

My sons 2002 Sebring 2.4 needs about 5 to 6 minutes to warm up before it does'ntt slip. After the warm up the trannie shifts fine without slipping. The warm up has me confused. Has anyone had similar problems or fixes. I guess I'm asking for opinions onthis problem. He plans on keeping the car for another year and hopes to not invest money in it. Any help or opinions will be appreciated.

Rhe fluid level was good. I read a similar post with a reply that the seals werehardening causing the slippage till they warmed up. Could that be the cause? Thanks for the reply.

When was the last time the fluid was changed? If it's been more than 60,000 miles, it's probably due. It'd be a lot cheaper than rebuilding the trans.
