'14 T&C Transmission Shuddering
Our '14 T&C Touring L transmission has started shuddering when it shifts from first to second. It feels like a slipping clutch on a manual shift. The shuddering lasts about a second before stopping and acceleration becomes solid. Can this situation be corrected easily without removal and complete rebuild? The vehicle is still under warranty, so cost is not a problem. However this a wheelchair conversion van and our only vehicle, so availability is an issue. My concern is that transmission rebuilds used to require 4-5 days, and dealers do not have wheelchair conversion vans as loaners. Thanks for any information.

The answer to your question is, of course, "it depends."
It depends on what the problem is and what the repair is. Some transmission problems can be fixed more easily than others.
Stock up on groceries and try to schedule the repairs when you can afford to spend a few days at home. If the repair turns out to be minor, count your blessings.

If you do decide to take your vehicle in for a diagnosis at a certified Chrysler dealership, please feel free to reach out. I would be happy to assist you in making an appointment.

Thanks, I was expecting this answer, but hoping that a vacuum leak or minor adjustment might be a possible solution. I'll go by the dealer early next week and discuss scheduling. I'm afraid the probable CYA response will be disassembly and analysis before committing to anything.

goggs may be correct on fluid change... u did not tell us how many miles on the van... however... putting fresh fluid in can eliminate a lot of little trans concerns.. i have been amazed thru the years how that has helped correct a lot of transmission bugs in my vehicles...and... by the way use oem fluid and try that first !

Thanks for fluid suggestions. This van was a fleet lease before the conversion company bought it at about 18K miles. We've had it for 22 months and 15K miles, currently about 33K miles. I guess I'll have my local mechanic change the fluid. Like I was taught years ago...try the simple inexpensive first. When that fails, bite the bullet and cringe.
