Recently wewent on a long tripand our 99 T&C Minivan started hesitating or studdering when coming to a complete stop or slowly turning while parking. This is at very slow speeds under 5 mph. It would just do it randomly, but once it would do it the van would go into "limp" mode and stay in either 2nd or 3rd gear and never get out of it until I turn the van off and start it back up. Then it runs fine for a while. I read about cahnging the transmission fluid often helps and I changed the transmission fluid myself. It appeared to be leaking transmission fluid from the pan but it was a very slow leak. I drained the fluid, resealed the pan and added new fluid. The van drove fine for about 3 days and I thought the problem was fixed. But it started doing it again. I brough it to a mechanic and the computer gave the code P1784. He said it was a transmission problem and I would have to bring it to a transmission specialist. I don't want to get a new transmission unless that is the only thing that will fix the problem. What else can I try to change myself before getting a new transmission? After changing the fluid am I supposed to reset thecomputer? If so, how can I do that? Any help would be great...Thanks!

P.S. Is there a trick to getting the odometer to display the error codes myself? I tried turning the key on and off 3,4, and 5 times, but it didnt work.
