2001 Town & Country Problem
Engine light came on. Had tested at parts house. Had to replace sensors. When in gear speedometer jumps and when in reverse it is worse. Changed Input sensor and Output sensor. No more engine light. The needle jumping in a pain. Anyone have a cure?

Trans fluid
I was just told ( guy behind counter at parts house) that the wrong fluid will cause error code. Is this right? Then he told me change filter and fluid to correct one and all should be ok. Any thoughts on this? If this is right for about $60.00 I can fix it myself. Thanks for all help in past and for any in future.

Yes, the "wrong fluid" could cause improper shifts, detectable by a micro. Also the torque converter clutch could operate improperly (judder). Changing ATF and filter can't cause harm, although there's no guarantee it will cure a fault. I believe ATF4+ should be backward-compatible, and there doesn't seem to be a price rip-off here*.
It's important you follow fluid level instructions when filling, as ATF expands noticeably when hot due to the viscosity improvers -- they are long-chain polymers that unwind when hot. Generally 80*C is the temp. for touching the correct level.
*Try buying ATF officially for a Jag. or BMW, then you'll know about rip-off. There is nothing special about those ATFs, trust me.

It [ATF-4+ transmission oil] used to be less than half price at ASDA-UK a year or so ago. Everyone else is charging £40+ for the 4 litres ASDA was £22 for 5 litres, unfortunately ASDA no longer sell it If anyone in the UK knows where its discounted let the forum know.

problem fixed
Alternator went out on my 2001 Town & Country Limited. $180.00 plus change and replaced it. The problem with sped dominator needle jumping and error codes are gone . It seems that voltage problem caused a lot of other things. It got so hot it smoked and burned labels on it. Just wanted to post incase other have same problems
