Default 2001 Voyager stuck in first

I got in my voyager today and backed out the drive way, put the car in drive and drove off. Imediatly I noticed that it didn.t change to second and then the engine light came on and I heard a beep. Drove about km or two then pulled over and turned the car off, started it again but same light was on and it was still only driving in first. I checked for a code using the "key dance" method but only get P1684, which is disconected battery in the past 50 starts. Any ideas on what I can check? I live in a small town and we have no mechanics open on the weekend and really need the use of my car.

Thanks for the reply. It is a 3.3L V6. And no I don't have any scan tools or service manual , I'll try to get a service manual tomorrow incase I need one in the future. It is an auto but I can't say whether it has an overdrive or not. I will have to take it into a mechanic tomorrow. Thanks again.

Yeah that is what I am worried about when it comes to cars I nothing about. I have seen the rip offs far too much in the past. I took it inot the mechanic I always use, I have been warned that he does the rip off but hasn't given me a bumb steer as yet, and he used his scan tool and the two error codes he got was P0605 and P0708. He clicked to check tranny error codes but the tool kept sayin "connect between port and main power terminal" or something like that and he kind of sighed like he was anoyed and disconected it. So I'm not sure if that is all the codes or not. He said from those codes that it is the computer and probably need a new one, which would be very pricey and I can't see that being the case. Any tips at all
Also no one locally has a service manual for a voyager and I can't get one till the end of the week but by then the car would be in for repair, does anybody know where I can download one today?

Not sure what scan tool he is using, just a big scare orange thing, that is all I can tell you. Also I don't mind paying for a manual. Got a link to a 2001 Voyager worshop manual?

Also I spoke to the service dept where I purchased my car, which is over 300kms away so I can't take it there, and the guy I spoke to, who was just the desk man, said the p0605 "is a possible problem with the transmision conrtol module" but he didn't know what the p708 was as it was coming up on his computer and all the techs had knocked off for the day. Any ideas what I can check my self? Could it be as simple as something has come loose?

Of course I have heard of google and of course that is exactly what I did in the first place but still couldn't find a good answer that is why I waisted my time signing up here and asking if any onehere may have the knowledge I obviously lack. Thanks for **** all and I won't bother you again.
