Default 2002 radio issues

radio display was working this morning ,however got in the car this afternoon and the display has stopped working radio is working but not displaying station or time
anyone else had problems with this ,is a bin job or can it be fixed??

also is it possible just to fit a after market unit , thought i read somewhere about putting something else in with it due to the built in amps?
