Default 2003 2.5 crd cambelt change

Hello everyone
What is the mileage for a recommended change of the cambelt and idler and tensioner pulleys?
I have seen conflicting information; our Voyager has done 70,000 miles and maybe it's due for a belt change?
Thanks

Hi, belt change time is down for a mileage, but age is also detrimental.
At 70,000 miles you are probably not quite ready for a change.
But your car is 2003, 10 years old, stop start, stop start.
Bet its showing its age, cracks, etc.
Think you had better change it...Fast...

I, I changed my cambelt after 7 years 80k miles, no cracks were evident, but I would not take a a chance, get it booked in. I got original parts and got my local independent garage to fit it for £280.

Default Cam Belt Change.

Note that Chrysler 1'S price of £280 for the 4 hour job is right for independent Garage as that's what I paid this year.
But Chrysler garage were wanting about £120 per hour for the job.

I'll geta Gates kit with the belt and pulleys and get the local garage to fit them. It looks quite a job for an amateur mechanic and I guess I'd have to buy the specialist tools as well.

Its not a hard job, you just need the locking pins for the inlet and exhaust cam, it could be a bit of a pain if your wanting to change the water pump as i did but my engine was out for another reason so access was not an issue.
To do the pump you then have to remove the backing plate which sits behind the cambelt/pulleys which means its tight.
