Default 2003 3.3 engine noise

2003 Town and Country with 3.3 engine. almost 200,000 miles on it. My daughter was driving it to her house and the oil light came on and she continued to drive it to her house. About 10 miles at 55mph. I got it the next day and checked the dipstick and it was just over 1 quart low. I drove it home, 15 miles no oil light. I got it home and checked the oil and added about 1.5 quarts. After adding the oil, I checked the dipstick and it was right at the full line. The next day me and my son was driving it to the movies and about 7 miles from home the oil light came on again and the engine started making a little noise. We parted it and came back the next day to tow it home. When we tried to put it on the trailer it would not fit. The oil light was off and the engine was about the normal noise for the engine before all this. So I told my son to drive it home. about 1 mile from home the oil light came back on and we finished driving it home.

Got home and checked the oil and it was over full about 1 quart. I have never seen this before, but I am thinking that somewhere in the engine a port had clogged up and was retaining the oil and then it released and all the oil returned back to the oil pan.

I started the engine and listened to it. It had a engine noise and I noticed that while it was running there was fumes coming out around the oil cap and the line from the valve cover to the air filter box. When I increased the rpms of the engine the fumes got alot worse. I drained the oil and put in a high grade synthetic and a new oil filter and drove it about 1 mile. I changed the oil and filter and put in a straight 30 weight oil and it still fumes and making the noise. I am attaching a mp3 file of the noise. I increased the rpm a couple of times since the noise is pretty low at idle.

I cannot post the mp3 file here since the site does not allow mp3 file extenstion. I have posted a link to it from my website.

What I need to know is if this engine is repairable or if I will be better off replacing the engine. I was getting ready to sell it when this happened. The van is in great shape otherwise.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Sounds likes a rod knock but with out having some one there look at it tear it down there is no way of knowing what can be repaired or a new engine is needed get some one local to look at it for you.
