2008 T & C Limited 4.0L Help....
Well it's tax time and that means time to get the cars worked on. Our 2008 Limited has the 4.0L v6 and I am having issues finding out if this engine is an Interference Engines or not. Meaning we have 139K miles on the van and if it's an interference engine I plan to get the timing belt replaced. If it's not then I will run it till it brakes. I have tried other websites and I am getting both answers. Some one also said I didn't have a belt but a timing chain???
On a different note. This engine has been great except for one big issue that just started about 6 months ago. I am now going through a quart of oil every 2 thousand mile. I am not leaking so I must be burning it. Any thoughts?

Came & read. We on this side of the pond don't have many petrol and certainly not the V6 4L but rather than a drive-by-read-only I point you to the allpar site which appears to clearly state that both the 3.5 & 4.0 V's have hydraulic end-pivot roller followers, hydraulic lifters, chain timing. The 2.7 V6 also had chain. We had chains on this side of the pond for the London Taxi which was the same as our early model VM Diesel Voyager Hope this helps.

I don't know how allpar got it wrong but the 4.0L definitely has a timing belt. The owners manual say to replace it at "102,000 Miles (170,000 km) or 102 Months Maintenance Service Schedule".
Here's a link to the timing belt kit at Rockauto: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...ktemplate=true
And according to alldata, it is an interference engine. http://collision.enterprise.alldata....rysler_LLC.htm

HiYa georgef, now we know why RW said "I have tried other websites and I am getting both answers. Some one also said I didn't have a belt but a timing chain???"
I know thwy have a straight 4.0 and a V 4.0 I wonder if that's causing confusion although the header on the RockAuto site clearly shows it as a V6 on a 2009 what does the 2008 show ?

There is a write up on how to change the timing belt on a 2010 Grand Caravan (same van as the Town & Country) here: 2010 DGC 4.0L timing belt, water pump, and spark plug change write up
