Thanks mrfixit,

I did end up getting one from a seller on ebay, it didn't work. Blinking lights of death

Fortunately the guy I got it from was aware of the high failure rate of these things and refunded my money.

I'm thinking of biting the bullet and just getting a new one from the dealer, at least I won't have to deal with it again (as long as I have the car any way) most likely.

Also, mine is the IR deck.

It appears that the one for the Pacifica is the same deck with a different bezel on the front. The part # is one digit different too. Would be interesting to know if they actually were the same and I could just swap the front bezel. Not sure I want to take a chance on it.

I wish I had better new but the connections are different. Although the 16 pin is similar, the 12 pin is different. I can email you a file if you want, just pm me your email. I made a word doc the compares them.

Also.. did you check with Mr.CD1 on ebay? He guarantees all his stuff.
http://stores.ebay.com/mr-cd1 I did not see nay noe on his site but you can email him and ask him if he will be getting anymore.

This got back-burnered for a while but now I've come across a single disc DVD player from an '02. It is an IR comatible deck and I'm going to compare the pin diagrams. Can you think of any reason why this won't work?

Even if the pin positions are different, I could just re-arrange the wires/pins on my connector to match. It still uses one 16-pin and one 12-pin connector just like my 6-disc deck.

From my own research, the single disc decks are far more reliable and the guy here only wants $70 for the deck, 2 head sets and remote.

I'll PM you for that doc if you can e-mail it.

Thanks

OK,, disregard my PM as I see you post here. So you have an 02 single player from a T&C that you want to put in your ?? T&C? If you want the PIN out for 02 van, I can't seem to find a dvd player for an 02 van on the mopar connector website. You sure the 02's had them?. DVD shows up in the 03 on the connector website but it calls it a changer 12 and 16 pins . and it has no signals in 03 for the IR headphone stuff. I question if the single unit is and IR based on the diagram of the 03. If the headphones he as for the 02 unit had a channel A/B switch as well and volume and power switches, I bet it is an RF unit. IR does not have channels but the RF's do.

Need some more info on what year you have and you can ask the seller to send you a pix of the top if the unit will have pin outs. Check your email for an 03 vs 06 diagrams for 16 and 12 pins connectors.

Mine is an '05 Limited with the NAV head unit. I have the 6-disc changer but it is bad. I have found some single disc decks that are IR but thanks for the info, I'll be sure to check that.

The guy gave me the model # and if I recall correctly it is the IR one. I need to look it up but I'm busy till Sat. Also the guy is only about 10 miles from me but I will do a little investigation before I actually go. No sense in wasting a 20 mile round trip.

Thanks again,

JM

OK.. Keep us posted.. here is one on ebay.. you can use its part number to compare the one the guys had. read this guys detail about IR and RF t help you identify the one 10 miles from you.

Be careful.. as I am not sure the version of IR. Mine is an 05 as well and has the IR emitters in the screen for my KOSS headphones. This guy makes is sound like the early IRs worked differently.. maybe the signal shot right out of the player itself in 02? Maybe you can email him to see what he is talking about. I have owned an 04 pacifica and now an 05 TC and 06 Megacab and all 3 had IR systems with the IR emitter in the screens and all headphones were koss.. power and volume adjusters only, no scan buttons. one AAA battery at each ear.

Actually, now that I read it again.. sounds like it is plug and play since you should already have the wires up in your screen for the IR.

Well no dice, his is RF. I found another one of the 6-disc decks on ebay, same part # as mine but I just can't get myself to shell out $250 for something that I consider a novelty. I'd also hate to pay that and a few months down the road the dang thing fails.

Back burner it goes again

I now wish I had not gotten the Limited, too many things to break. Besides the DVD deck, I've had to repair the left side power door for a boken wire, replaced the lift gate motor actuator and the power locks intermittantly stop working. They don't respond to the key fob or the inside switch although the lights flash when I hit unlock on the fob. I thought maybe the ACC relay, but I swapped it and still some times they stop working. Only thing that restores operation is to disconnect the battery
Never had any trouble with my '05 LX or '99 Grand Voyager

Thanks again,

JM

JM,
Sorry that did not work out. How about the $200 single disk I linked for you? still too much?

I understand your concerns about the limited. We have really enjoyed ours and have had a few issues with locks as well. I have had to pull the IOD fuse twice since last October for the keyfob lock thing. I hear if it gets more frequent, a Body control module might have to be replaced. I did have to replace the motor in the driver side power slider and it would not lock unlock anymore but I dd that for about $5 with the help of the Chrysler minivan forum. The upstream O2 sensor also went out which was covered under warranty. I bought the van used w/ 65k miles on it and bought a used Chrysler warranty for it. Deductible is $100 so if I can fix it for less than $100, I go that route. I rally enjoy all the limited features.. we added the Uconnect (factory) and added the screen since it had the changer and no screen when we got it. This is where I learned all about IR and RF and I feel I have a pretty good understanding of each type of DVD system.

Keep searching as I think you will eventually find what you need. Keep an eye on ebay seller LKQonline or search them on the net. They usually have all sorts of pulls from wrecked cars. MrCD1 on ebay too usually has excellent stuff though pricey, he guarantees it works and will help you with any questions.

Ask this guy what the P/N is for this DVD player so you know what will work for you if you find it. Look at his receipt.. not sure how he got all these parts so cheap. Looks like he got them at cost. I paid $35 for that bracket and $450 for the screen and harness. Hi bracket was $11 and the changer was $169??? And the IR harnesses go for about $300.

You are a treasure trove of info Mr Fixit, I appreciate all your research. I am a bit at war with myself over this, I don't want to spend much but I am **** about having everything in good working order. I agree with you about all the Limited's conveniences. Odd that yours had a DVD changer but no screen. Mine has the U-connect and the drop screen with IR emitters. My DVD screen, drop down pockets, rear AC controls, etc. are attached to a rail system that spans the inside roof front to back.

When you have problems with your power locks, does it also affect the inside lock/unlock switches? Mine does, key fob and switches do not work.

Where is the IOD fuse?

**changing gears**

The first link, the seller with the whole system for sale.

That DVD screen/unit is exactly what I have. The rail system fits into those 2 slots. You can see the IR emitter cover in front of the DVD screen. I guess I thought that by '05 only the multi-disc deck was available.

This one is PAL region 2, no good here.

Good price, wish I could get a close up of the connector diagram on this one. I think you are correct that it is IR. What do you mean by "Maybe it does not have headphone stuff????" The part # is P05082005AB, got a pin-out for it??

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-04...fAudioQ5fVideo
Hmmm, same company (LKQ) but more than double the price and higher shipping?? Say's it's from an '05 Caravan. Part # P05094038AB

Thanks again,
JM
