Question Aircon calibration fails

1997 Voyager.
I am having some problems with resetting the flashing instrument lights. When I acquired the car the battery was flat so the aircon system and wiper lights flash. I have followed the reset procedure - allowed the car to blow a load of hot air and then press the top and bottom left hand switches to start the reset calibration procedure.

However, this always fails and the aircon and recirculation lights remain flashing and the other lights (demister etc) don't come on when I press them.

The car does sort itself out on long drives, but the lights always start flashing again when I next use the car.

Any suggestions as to why the reset fails?
I suspect the aircon needs recharged as it doesn't blow particularly cold so maybe can't achieve the heat differential required to reset (I have tried to trick it by opening the windows to help it cool down to no avail!)
Should I start with an aircon recharge or is there a socket or something else that is prone to failure?

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have mainly tried it whilst driving, still does not help unfortunately. I do suspect it's because the aircon needs recharged would be interested to learn if others have the same difficulty.

A while ago I dropped the car off at an lpg specialist to ask about an lpg issue, they deal in aircon too, they said the electronics for the instrument lights were faulty and would need replaced. I am pretty skeptical about that.

I'm still not having any luck with this. Tried recharging the air con, driving, windows open, all sorts of combinations but still no joy. The recon and aircon light flash in time (the wiper lights go out after a while). They sometimes stop flashing after a long drive but will always be flashing when I next turn the car off and on.

Is there a hardware fault that could cause the issue? A while ago my dad dropped the car off at an lpg specialist to look at something else, he reckoned that something needed replaced (electronics related to aircon). Is there truth to this? Something I might be able to pick up from a scrap yard hopefully?

Is there a specific circuit board for the aircon? Or where does the temperature sensor live? To be fair it doesn't feel as though much cooling is happening.
