Another brake bleeding question
Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum and I'm trying to get a few suggestions for my 2003 T & C.
My wife and daughters called me last night while driving our T & C to say they smelled something like burning rubber. They got off the freeway and parked the var. When I arrived the right rear drum was very hot, the left was cool. I suspected a dragging parking brake. I adjusted the brake to free up the drum a bit more. Next, what I didn't understand is why the brakes were very very spongy, the pedal went to the floor with little effort. Why would this happen??? From the brake fluid getting hot???
I bled the rear brakes and got them to firm up and drove it home.
Today I found a frozen E Brake cable on the rear passenger drum. I did a complete brake job on the rear. I replaced the shoes, wheel cylinders, hardware, turned the drums and installed a new cable. Then I bled the rear brakes. Took it for a test drive and found the brakes to be spongy, they stopped but I'd say 65% of what they should be.
I then bled the rear and then the front too and test drove again. No change.
I read here somewhere about bleeding with the ABS pump on??? is that my next step and how is that done?
Or should I first try a vacuum pump bleeding kit?
Looking for help and thank you!!!
Jeff
