Default Code P0403 EGR Fault but its my Fault ?

I took the vacuum pipe of my EGR and removed the black barrel unit on Friday as I snapped the vacuum pipe off !, I glued it all back on, left it for about 3 hours and used the car for a bit which seemed to work okay with it off !.

Then I put it all back on when the glue had set, but now I am getting a P0403 code !, was this because of what I did or is there something else ?, or if it was me when will the code automatically clear ?.

Thanks.

P.s I am also now getting an oil smell when driving, but not sure if that’s connected or not.
